Singaporean High Commission of KL contributes RM15,000 worth of healthcare and teaching supplies

The High Commission of the Republic of Singapore in Kuala Lumpur has contributed RM15,000 worth of masks, sanitisers, and stationeries to 95 Fellows from Teach For Malaysia (TFM), a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on improving education opportunities across Malaysia. The Fellows are part of a full two-year Leadership Development programme operated by TFM where they serve as teachers in high-need secondary schools.

Singapore’s Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Loy Hui Chien, said that the return of classroom learning was important for students’ development. “Education is essential for a prosperous and stable society. While, COVID-19 has disrupted the lives of many students and teachers, I am heartened to see the Fellows’ dedication to teach. In the spirit of both countries’ National Day, I hope the High Commission’s modest contribution can help the teachers to teach in a conducive and safe environment.”

TFM’s CEO, Mr Chan Soon Seng, said “We believe that education is instrumental in raising the next generation of leaders for the future of our nations. We are grateful for the High Commission of the Republic of Singapore’s support in ensuring our barisan depan ilmu (education frontliners) and students are well-equipped to continue teaching and learning safely during these times.”
