This article is 4 years old

JT International Berhad (JTI Malaysia) has been certified as a Top Employer in Malaysia for the sixth consecutive year. The certification by the Top Employers Institute cements JTI’s reputation as an employer that puts people first and once again acknowledges JTI’s excellent working conditions, as well as the progress it has made to improve wellbeing, and diversity and inclusion.

“Winning the award for six consecutive years is a testament to our culture and the fact that JTI is an excellent workplace that enhances career growth. We are extremely proud of this achievement as it serves to highlight our long-term people-centric approach which focuses on being transparent, listening to our employees and providing fair career opportunities. Here at JTI, we rely on the unique abilities, creativity and commitment that each employee brings with them and we hone this further by demonstrating our commitment to invest in our people and our employment practices”, said Khoo Bee Leng, Managing Director of JTI Malaysia.

For JTI, the renewed regional Top Employer 2021 certification in Malaysia is the latest addition to a list of awards recognising its HR excellence across the globe: in 2020, JTI was certified as a Global Top Employer for the fifth consecutive year, and also gained Top Employer status in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, North America, the Middle East and Africa.

The annual international research undertaken by the Top Employers Institute recognises leading employers around the world; those that provide excellent employee conditions, nurture and develop talent throughout all levels of the organisation, and which strive to continuously optimise employment practices.

JTI’S PLAN TO MAINTAIN EXCELLENCE IN 2021

JTI will focus more than ever on:
i) Gender equality in leadership positions: the Company is committed to pursuing its goal to increase the representation of women in leadership positions in addition to reaching gender parity at all levels.

ii) Building an agile workforce: increased emphasis on cross-functional collaborations, projects and role rotations to develop high calibre, holistic talents with a “big picture” view to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.

iii) Our culture: an endeavour led by our people, for our people - focusing on cultivating a corporate culture that brings out the best in our people; making JTI an even greater place to work. This includes empowering employees from offices through remote working; removal of managerial barriers and styles from the past; and a creation of a global environment where they feel safe to be themselves, learn from their mistakes, speak up, take risks, trust and respect each other.
