Lalamove expands delivery coverage to Johor and Penang

This article is 3 years old

After more than two years of being a household name for on-demand deliveries in Klang Valley, Lalamove is expanding its delivery coverage to Johor and Penang.

Consumers and businesses in the two states will be able to deliver with Lalamove from as low as RM5 while benefiting from Lalamove’s added features such as multi stop delivery, real-time GPS delivery tracking and 24/7 delivery services.

This expansion is in line with Lalamove’s vision of bringing its brand of affordable and faster deliveries to daily consumers and SMEs that are located in the northern and southern regions of Peninsular Malaysia.

Lalamove Malaysia’s newly appointed Managing Director, Jane Teh commented that the time is right to extend Lalamove’s reach beyond Klang Valley.

“Society at large has embraced the stay-at-home mindset and physical distancing measures since the onset of MCO in March 2020. This rapid shift in lifestyle fuels changing consumer behaviour that puts more value in delivery services. SMEs that are in tune with this trend have better odds at survival and profitability despite the challenges due to the pandemic.”

“Nowadays, we can roughly fulfil 500,000 delivery orders within Klang Valley per month. We are confident that we can duplicate this result for consumers and businesses in these two states,” Jane said.

The growing need for deliveries among consumers comes with greater demand for Lalamove’s services throughout Malaysia, especially from the SMEs. Johor and Penang have the highest distribution of SMEs after Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. As such, these two states are fertile grounds to optimise the logistics ecosystem of local businesses with Lalamove’s delivery services.

Lalamove will commence its services in Johor and Penang by offering car and motorcycle deliveries before launching its van, truck and lorry deliveries near the end of the second quarter to enable same-day interstate delivery for the local SMEs in these two states.

Lalamove’s pay-per-use scheme, as opposed to a fixed contract that is prevalent with traditional logistics companies, is often cited as a key factor behind Lalamove’s strength in servicing SMEs. Currently, Lalamove serves approximately 100,000 SMEs and daily consumers in Klang Valley.

“We are also looking forward to offering full-time and part-time income opportunities for vehicle owners in Johor and Penang. This expansion is a form of our contribution to strengthening the country’s gig economy and its workers,” Jane concluded.

Lalamove driver centres have been established in Bayan Lepas, Penang and Permas Jaya, Johor as the base of Lalamove’s operations. For more details on Lalamove’s services and business delivery solutions, please visit their website or download the Lalamove app.
