In the spirit of the festive season of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”), one of Malaysia’s leading property developers, continued its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to spread cheer and happiness by giving back to the communities surrounding its master developments.

UEM Sunrise organised two programmes to preserve the festive spirit of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri which included distributing essential items to the Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang in Gelang Patah, Johor and sending out cash contribution to the Pertubuhan Nur Kasih Bestari Orphanage in Kajang, Selangor in April and May respectively.

In Johor, UEM Sunrise shared their Ramadan blessings to the families in Kampung Orang Asli Simpang Arang, Gelang Patah where volunteers sorted, packed, and delivered essential items and care packages including rice, cooking oil, sugar and flour. This programme was to ensure that the needy families get to observe the fasting month with fewer worries despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the following month, UEM Sunrise remained connected to the communities virtually and strengthened the bonds by sending out cash contributions to the Pertubuhan Nur Kasih Bestari Orphanage in Kajang, Selangor and ‘duit raya’ to the children. For UEM Sunrise, it was important that the children at the orphanage could still experience a meaningful and safer Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration despite being under the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“Despite the MCO, our CSR programmes, as well as our volunteers, are determined to help the communities who are struggling. This fully encapsulates our C.H.I.E.F values (an acronym for Caring, Honest, Involved, Enthusiastic, and Fun-loving) which is a part of our Company’s brand values.

“We view this as our social responsibility to care for our communities and instil the spirit of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. We look forward to reaching out to lend a helping hand to those in need especially during these difficult times,” said UEM Sunrise Chief Executive Officer Sufian Abdullah.

UEM Sunrise has organised four CSR programmes since early this year, which included a charity drive for welfare organizations affected by the pandemic and the Chinese New Year contributions to the Persatuan Kebajikan Orang Tua Ceria in Johor.

UEM Sunrise wrapped up the year 2020 with total of 13 CSR programmes ranging from the opening of more BukuhUb centres to donating supplies to the frontliners in the fight against COVID-19 and distributing groceries to families affected by the extended Movement Control Order (MCO).
