Engineering the future of tomorrow

This article is 3 years old

Engineers are a crucial part of our society and economy today. They are the ones who take bench or lab discoveries and materialise their potential to an industrial scale. Their work has made life easier, practical, and economical for people from all walks of life.

One of the top engineering nations in the world, Germany has an estimated 1 million engineers for a population of 82 million. France has an estimated 800,000 for a population of 60 million. As of 2019, the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) has a total register of 128,000 graduate and professional engineers.

To ensure that the continuous demand for quality engineering graduates are met, Imperium International College is taking all the necessary steps to prepare graduates for the real world.

Imperium International College has a distinguished record of producing over 12 engineering graduates with First Class Honours in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University over the last few years.

Imperium’s School for Engineering head, Dr Than Cheok Fah commented, “We are just continuing Imperium’s excellent trend of producing capable and dynamic engineers who perform to the highest standards and expectations of the industry.

“Imperium has now increased its programme options and expanded its network of universities and pathways to provide various choice offerings for engineering degrees of unmatched value.”

Imperium offers engineering programmes at both diploma and degree level.

At the diploma level, Imperium offers the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. For holders of SPM or O-Levels (or equivalent), these offer excellent value in terms of costs, time saving, quality of training and employment opportunities.

It takes only two and a half years to secure the Imperium’s Diploma in Engineering and another two years to a BEng degree in a wide choice of United Kingdom universities.

When studying in UK universities, students are able to hold part-time jobs for up to 20 hours per week.

Another choice for students with SPM or O-Levels (or equivalent) is the one-year Imperium’ Foundation in Science, which will qualify them to enrol for the 3+0 Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) BEng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering which can be completed entirely at Imperium International College.

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) in partnership with Imperium offers various 3+0 honours degree programmes.

The Engineering programmes (both diploma and ARU degree programmes) at Imperium International College are delivered by a team of highly qualified lecturers with wide industry experience.

They include lecturers with PhD from prestigious universities, among which is Dr Tan Hock Meng, who obtained a First Class Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD from Cambridge.

Commenting on the ARU BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering programme, ARU School of Engineering and the Built Environment Director of International Partnerships Dr Habtom Mebrahtu said, “Our course supports students by delivering the skills and knowledge they need to succeed by using advanced computer-based analysis and modelling tools.

“The lectures at Imperium are delivered by experts with proven industrial experience” he concluded.

Imperium International College is now owned by MAA Group as the company puts focus on expanding its education business. MAA Group also owns St John’s International School and Pusat Tuisyen Kasturi under its subsidiary, Edumaax Sdn Bhd.

The college currently offers Free Foundation programmes as well as loyalty discounts worth up to RM34,000. Imperium International College also offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries, thanks to its partnership with the Budimas Charitable Organisation.
