MCO Food Bank Ready To Serve The Rakyat By The Rakyat
Since the PPN has been enforced nationwide, many people in areas of construction and F&B businesses were forced to shut down and work fewer hours resulting in no income and difficulty in buying food. Trying to make a difference by helping the needy people, two individuals from the Taman Sri Sinar, Segambut neighbourhood decided to form a food bank in the beginning of July.
Located right in the commercial and nearby housing area, MCO Food Bank opened its doors with basic goods such as cooking oil, sugar, packets of noodles and rice to be offered to anyone who would collect the five items at once. They are encouraged to bring their own recyclable bags when doing so. Day in and day out, people from all walks of life come to the food bank hoping the items taken are enough to last a week or two.
“We hope MCO Food Bank can sustain feeding them throughout this PPN Phase till the businesses are back to normal again. We hope for more kind-hearted “rakyats” to donate the necessary goods and be sure to check our updates in MCO Food Bank official Facebook page. We need your assistance and let us reach out further to the needy ones” said Mr. Kevin Low, from Tag Global Courier & Service who founded the MCO Food Bank, which is right below its premises, sharing a space with a restaurant.
“We would like to help based on the current supplies we received and with the power of social media we hope be it your neighbors could see anyone in need of supplies to drop by our humble food bank for support. This is the best that we can do, and we wish to operate for as long as we can with the support from the “rakyat’s” contributions either from Segambut, Kepong or anywhere. Hence our tagline: No One Should Go Hungry” echoed Mr. Shawn Chan, co-founder MCO Food Bank.

About MCO Food Bank
With the tagline: No One Should Go Hungry, 2 individuals from the neighborhood of Taman Sri Sinar decided to open a food bank after realizing that there are still many people who have difficulties in buying their daily food supplies due to loss of income when their businesses were shut and closed during this affected period. By setting up this humble food bank, they rely on contributions from kindhearted people big or small. They hope doing a CSR initiative like this would lift the spirits of the “rakyat” and help one way or another once the country’s economy begins to recover fully.
