Maybank’s Sama-Sama Lokal & Lalamove in Merdeka campaign to support small businesses with free deliveries
In conjunction with the Merdeka week, Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery service provider, is collaborating with Maybank’s zero commission e-commerce platform, Sama-Sama Lokal to organise a Merdeka-themed ‘Sehati Selokal’ campaign to encourage the sales of Sama-Sama Lokal’s merchants that are based in Klang Valley.
The ‘Sehati Selokal’ campaign will run exclusively on the Sama-Sama Lokal platform in Maybank’s M2U app from this Saturday, 28 August 2021 till 31 August 2021. The campaign offers free deliveries by Lalamove and a discount of RM10 with a minimum spend of RM30. The RM10 discount is redeemable with the promo code ‘SELOKAL’.
The ‘Sehati Selokal’ campaign captures the evergreen Merdeka spirit of unity and ‘kita jaga kita’ motto that embodies empathy which is especially relevant during this challenging period. Through this campaign, both Lalamove and Maybank are hopeful that Malaysians will come together to support small businesses.
According to Jane Teh, the Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia, empowering small businesses and SMEs has always been at the forefront of Lalamove’s mission.
“The new normal has hastened the need for on-demand delivery among small businesses and SMEs. We are committed to supporting the business community with our digital logistics solutions,” commented Jane.
“We are excited to initiate this ‘Sehati Selokal’ campaign with Maybank. Local businesses, such as hawkers and retailers, are dependent on daily revenue to stay afloat. We share the same sentiment with Maybank’s Sama-Sama Lokal; local businesses should be able to run their businesses, come rain or shine. Let’s play our part as consumers and caring Malaysians by buying from these businesses so that they can keep on selling within our community.”
Maybank conceived the Sama-Sama Lokal initiative in April 2020. The zero-commission digital platform offers exposure to the Bank’s 12 million customers and a sales channel for local businesses that were struggling to make ends meet due to restrictions with the movement control order (MCO).
“Lalamove has been delivering for Sama-Sama Lokal since May 2020. We are more than happy to be a part of the ‘Sehati Selokal’ campaign, since the campaign shares the same values as Sama-Sama Lokal. We encourage Malaysians to come together, especially during the Merdeka week to throw their support behind local businesses and make a purchase from them,” said Kalyani Nair, Maybank’s Head of Virtual Banking and Payment.
“The campaign will offer discounts on top of free deliveries by Lalamove. We believe the additional perks and incentives will help increase daily orders throughout the four-day campaign period, which will generate considerable income for Sama-Sama Lokal’s merchants as well as the delivery riders,” added Kalyani.
Jane is also optimistic about the preparations from Lalamove’s end. “On the supply side, we have sufficient delivery partners to meet the demand from this campaign. We hope to replicate this campaign to business communities in other states, especially in our new coverage areas in Penang and Johor in the near future,” concluded Jane.
