Revitalizing the job market with a “spoonful” of interns

This article is 3 years old

The pandemic has forced Malaysian employers and head hunters alike to expand on their methods of hiring staff & sourcing for talents. Being a social enterprise that is geared at establishing connections between fresh graduates and renowned employers, Internspoon offers a very unique viewpoint on this issue and believes that they have provided a fitting solution to this.

Internspoon’s journey began in late 2019 and started to take bigger steps in 2020 when joining MaGIC’s Global Accelerator Programme (GAP). With over 400 applications, the virtual event features an online programme to accelerate local & international startups from all over the world, with an interest to expand their business in the ASEAN region, to be investment-ready in 3 months. Internspoon managed to secure a position among the top 40 finalists to proceed with the next steps of the program.

With a unique mentoring and coaching module, and exclusive access to MaGIC’s alumni network and community, GAP prepared Internspoon to be investment-ready, identify elements for swift project and technology implementation, and strengthen their business operations – including areas of legal, finance, HR and marketing.

In the year 2021, Internspoon successfully launched 3 varying iterations of their "virtual events”. Partnering with Taylor’s University, Monash University Malaysia & SEGi University for their respective annual Virtual Career & Internship Fair, these events have attracted over 100 companies to advertise more than 1,000 positions on the platform. This influx of jobs has allowed over 1,000 candidates the ability to engage with employers directly leading to about 3,500 total applications.

“ The 2021 fair was held virtually using the Internspoon event platform that provided an easy-to-navigate, visually immersive and interactive experience. This enabled partner organisations and Monash talents to meet and network virtually, engage in career interactive events and activities plus maximize job and internship hiring opportunities.”
- Santhana Rajmohan, Manager, Career Services, Monash University Malaysia

“With Internspoon, we share similar objectives. Hence, we take Internspoon as our event partner to organize this annual event. With their strong clientele and the platform that they have, it will be beneficial to our students and graduates in this Fair.”
- Soo Lee Wei, Senior Manager, Career & Alumni Liaison Office, SEGi University

“What we are doing with Internspoon is to actually connect the bridge between students and employers, to better prepare our students to be more employable. With all these Covid things happening, everything has to be virtual!” said Edriana, the Head of Career Services in Taylor’s University.
- Raja Edriana, Head of Taylor’s Career Services, Taylor’s University

It is becoming clear that Internspoon alongside its partnership with MaGIC are closer than most to fulfilling the needs of both students and employers. Universiti Malaya being next on the list to partner up alongside Internspoon will have their Virtual Career Fair from the 15th of November till the 20th of December 2021.

With Malaysia almost at the tail end of this pandemic, Internspoon is looking to replicate and improve this model of connectivity with many more partnerships with universities nationwide.
