Allianz General, MYC inks MoU to encourage social protection among B40 youths

Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad (Allianz General) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) to support the government’s efforts in increasing social protection among B40 youths.

The MOU, signed on 5 November 2021 by Allianz General Chief Executive Officer Sean Wang and MYC president Jufitri Joha, underlines a shared commitment in encouraging B40 youth to take up the Allianz PerlindunganKu by Allianz General under the government’s Perlindungan Tenang, affordable insurance plans banner.

Through this collaboration, youths eligible for the Perlindungan Tenang Voucher (PTV), also a government initiative, will be encouraged to use their vouchers to purchase the Allianz PerlindunganKu policy.

“Our youths must realise that having adequate insurance protection is about having financial and social resilience. Everybody deserves to be protected, and getting protection is like investing in yourself. They should ask themselves, ‘am I worth this investment?’,” said Sean.

“Through this partnership with the Malaysian Youth Council and with our Allianz PerlindunganKu product, we want our youths to see that protection is not a perk but a very attainable safety net that can safeguard them against some of life’s unexpected events,” said Sean.

Both Allianz General and MYC target to have 500,000 youths from the B40 group registered with MYC to redeem the PTV for an Allianz PerlindunganKu policy.

On the partnership, Jufitri shared that this leverages MYC’s role; apart from focusing on youth development, volunteerism, patriotism and building strong youth identity, MYC is glad that many other youth members of the organisation will be benefited from this program.

“In 2020, we have witnessed how pandemic has affected our lives. It was also concerning to learn that only 22% Malaysians are covered by Personal Health Insurance as reported by National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS). We would like to thank Perlindungan Tenang under government’s initiative that will be beneficial for Malaysians especially B40 groups to ensure their health is insured during difficult times. We hope that this initiative will be continued to benefit B40 groups”, added Jufitri.

Moreover, the collaboration will also focus on alleviating the financial burden of medical care for any injuries due to an accident and offering protection for youths working or volunteering in high-risk jobs including, those serving at flood relief centres and vaccination centres.
