ISKL’s Scholarship Program for Malaysian students in forms 3 and 5 now open!

This article is 2 years old

This year, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) Scholarship Program marks 20 years of providing life-changing scholarships to Malaysian students. Since 2002, recipients of ISKL’s two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme Scholarships have experienced the benefits of undertaking the internationally recognized IB Diploma at one of Malaysia’s leading international schools and gone on to attend leading universities worldwide.

Each year, ISKL offers its IB Diploma Scholarship to two Malaysian Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers and applications are now open. Consideration is based on academic records, co-curricular involvement, and commitment to community service, with shortlisted applicants undertaking an entrance exam and panel interview.

Reflecting on her experience at ISKL, IB Scholarship recipient Yogita Chandrasekaran who graduated from ISKL in June 2022 said, “My IB journey at ISKL has genuinely been an increasing learning curve. Throughout my two years here, I have been able to grow both academically and on a personal level. Shout-out to the ISKL community, especially my teachers, who have consistently challenged and encouraged me. I am immensely grateful for the opportunities ISKL has given me!”

ISKL is the longest-running IB World school in Malaysia and this year continued its tradition of outperforming worldwide IB Diploma averages with students scoring an average of 36.2 points – four points above the global average of 32 points. ISKL’s 98 percent pass rate was also well above this year’s worldwide pass rate of 86 per cent. 32 per cent of ISKL students scored 40 or more points, results that typically place students in the top 10 per cent of worldwide IB Diploma scores.  20 percent of students earned a Bilingual Diploma in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

ISKL’s Scholarship Program was recently expanded to include the merit and needs-based ISKL Pathways Scholarship for Malaysian students currently in Form 3. Applications are also open for this innovative scholarship.

The Pathways Scholarship provides a four-year High School (Grade 9 to Grade 12) period of study enabling recipients to take advantage of ISKL’s flexible High School pathways, including study options such as PRAXIS and Pursuits as well as the prestigious IB Diploma. In addition to an appropriate scholastic level, applicants are required to demonstrate their alignment with ISKL’s Vision and Mission by showcasing their passion for creating a positive impact on local communities, understanding of global issues, and proven experience with a cause they believe is fundamental to shaping a better world.

Current (2022) Form 3 or Form 5 Malaysian students looking to shape their path as global citizens can find more details on ISKL’s website. Online applications close October 31, 2022. Scholarships commence August 2023.
