‘AEON Mesra’ brings joy to children in need: Closes the year with over RM350,000 aid

Malaysian AEON Foundation (MAF) continues to move forward with the AEON Mesra programme in fulfilling its mission to help people in need, synonymous with MAF’s effort to channel aid to the less fortunate. 

The AEON Mesra campaign was initiated by MAF since 2005, with the aim to help alleviate the burdens faced by the underprivileged families and children to celebrate the festive seasons such as Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Deepavali and Christmas. In this noble programme, children from needy families are treated with joyful shopping experience at selected AEON stores or AEON BiG outlets for their festival clothes and other essential items.  

Through the AEON Mesra campaign this year, MAF has touched more than 2000 children nationwide and has contributed up to RM 350,000 of festive aid goodies to the less fortunate families, children’s and charity homes. 

In conjunction with the upcoming Christmas festive this year; AEON Mesra Christmas, contributed up to RM55,000 in form of donation to recipients, involving 300 children nationwide for charity homes and low-income household. The programme started on 10th December 2022, with participation from three AEON stores and two AEON BiG outlets located in Sarawak, Melaka, Johor, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. 

The highlight of the programme was held at AEON Mall Tebrau City, Johor Bahru on 17th December, where a total of 100 children from charity homes were treated to new festive clothes shopping and presents.  

In this event, MAF worked with several charity homes and NGOs in Johor such as Yayasan Kebajikan Suria, Pusat Kebajikan Kalvari dan Pertubuhan Kebajikan Penyayang Permata Hati. Attended by the MAF committee and AEON CO. management, the activity is also assisted by volunteers from AEON Group of companies in Malaysia. 

Datin Noryahwati Mohd Noh, President of MAF said, “We are grateful to have the opportunity to share this enjoyable moment with the children. Festivals are meant for all of us to be happy and today is definitely a special day for them. It is our hope that this assistance will bring some joy and hope to them and we are happy to see sparkling smiles on beautiful faces all around.”

The AEON Mesra Program is in line with MAF’s efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) SDG 16 – which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive at all levels.
