TalentCorp kick-starts graduate employability initiative for 2023 with focus on TVET

CYBERJAYA, 27 February: Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) today held its first Young Employable Students (YES!) workshop for the year as a cross-collaboration approach towards enhancing the employability of local talent in a changing work landscape.

The YES! 2023 Initiative officiated by YB Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources is in line with the Ministry of Human Resources’ (MOHR) strategic plans, which emphasises the importance of human capital development, including the cultivation and empowerment of TVET as the primacy choice for students and industries. While the workshop held today is a kick-start for the programmes that will be carried out under the YES initiative! for the year 2023.

In line with the 2023 budget announcement by Prime Minister YAB Dato' Sri Anwar Ibrahim and in embracing the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, TalentCorp supports MOHR's initiative as a leader in the development of the nation's human capital as well as the TVET empowerment process on top of MOHR's capacity as the Secretariat of the National TVET Council.

Over 100 delegates from the Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Higher Education, public and private higher learning institutions, TVET institutions, and industry stakeholders convened at the one-day YES! workshop in a united effort to support Malaysia’s young talents in achieving employability. This initiative is based on a collaboration model that involves various government ministries, agencies, and higher education institutions. Additionally, it is supported by strategic industry stakeholders who are invested in strengthening Malaysia's talent pipeline.

Since its inception, over 30,000 students have benefited from YES!. Looking ahead to 2023, TalentCorp will collaborate with the TVET Council Secretariat through the YES! to nurture TVET talent across the country.
