IJN Foundation partnership with RMHC Malaysia benefits more young hearts

Underprivileged children often have less access to quality medical care, healthy food, shelter and among others. This makes them vulnerable to malnutrition and diseases, and a compromise to full medical treatment. In essence, they are robbed of a normal and happy childhood – something that we can all agree every child deserves.

Approximately one in every 100 babies is born with heart defects known as congenital heart disease (CHD). Some defects are mild and cause no significant disturbance to the way the heart functions. However, more than half of all children with CHD have a condition that is serious enough to require treatment.

In 1995, IJN Foundation was established to raise funds to help deserving heart patients who are unable to pay for their treatments at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN). Besides helping with treatment costs, the foundation also funds cardiovascular research & clinical studies, and educational & training programmes, that help support, enhance and improve the healthcare of Malaysians.

Partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia

IJN Foundation first joined hands with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC Malaysia) in 2018 to assist underprivileged children. Both organisations brought cheer to children born with heart disease and their family members.

RMHC Malaysia is a registered NGO with the objectives to supports programs related to children’s welfare, age 18 and below. Since its inception in 1990, RMHC Malaysia has positively impacted more than 130,000 children in the areas of Health, Education and Welfare with funding in excess of RM40 million.

RMHC Medical grants to the IJN Foundation welfare fund

IJN Foundation has been receiving Medical Grants from RMHC Malaysia since 2018 and continue to receive the grants annually to help children with heart issues. On 22nd September 2022, IJN Foundation alongside with 3 other organisations were presented with the RMHC Malaysia 2022 Medical Grant at RMHC’s Charity Golf Tournament at Tropicana Golf and Country Club. Between 2018 till up to 2022, 32 patients were successfully funded by RMHC Malaysia.

Every child’s life is important and IJN Foundation together with RMHC Malaysia strives toassist as many underprivileged children with heart disease as possible, to ensure their better quality of life and well-being. Through this collaboration, IJN Foundation manages the grants to ease the financial burden of deserving heart patients; for their treatment and surgery at the Institut Jantung Negara (IJN).
