KOPETRO forms strategic collaboration with Carsome, the largest automotive e-commerce platform in SEA

Putrajaya, 26 June 2023 - Koperasi Kakitangan PETRONAS Berhad (KOPETRO) through its subsidiary, KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd. entered into a strategic partnership with CARSOME Sdn Bhd (CARSOME), the largest automotive e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony held at The Everly Hotel.

This ceremony is the beginning of strategic cooperation between the two entities in an effort to strengthen the automotive industry in Malaysia. This multifaceted collaboration will result in brand enhancement, wider customer outreach, and potential for continued collaboration between KOPETRO and CARSOME.

CARSOME is the largest car e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, and operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. CARSOME was established with the main goal of digitizing the used car industry in the region by providing the best experience in the car buying and selling process.

Through its subsidiaries such as iCar Asia, WapCar, and CarTimes, CARSOME provides direct solutions to end-to-end used car consumers and dealers, including car inspection, ownership transfer, financing, and other related services.

"This partnership will give KOPETRO members easy access to the full range of CARSOME products and services, as well as effective after-sales support to ensure an outstanding experience for them," said KOPETRO chairman, Roslan Abdul Rahim.

Roslan added that the selection to collaborate with CARSOME is related to the launch of the latest financing product by KOPETRO, Kenderaan-i, which offers a simple and more flexible vehicle financing solution, is in line with KOPETRO's aspiration to offer innovative products to cooperative members.

The partnership with CARSOME has completed the financing product ecosystem where members of the cooperative can now choose to buy a vehicle from the automotive company through Kenderaan-i which offers financing of up to RM150,000.

The MoU ceremony witnessed Wan Ahmad Tarmizi Wan Abd Rahman, Chairman of KOPETRO Trading Sdn. Bhd., exchanged the MoU document with Country General Manager of CARSOME Certified, Alan Cheah.

Established over 40 years ago, KOPETRO comprises more than 15,000 PETRONAS employees and its subsidiaries is recognized as one of the top 10 cooperatives in Malaysia. In 2022, KOPETRO was honored with the prestigious Best Brand award, The BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Award, in the Leisure - Holiday Solutions and Tourism category.

In 2020, KOPETRO achieved two esteemed awards: the SMEs Bestbrands e-Branding Awards by The BrandLaureate and the Lang International Corporate Titan Awards - Cooperative Icon of The Year 2020.

Recently, KOPETRO launched an online platform called proLindung, which enables users to renew their road tax and vehicle takaful (insurance) more easily, quickly, and securely. More interestingly, KOPETRO is offering a discount of RM50 for the first 50 customers that renew their vehicle tax and insurance through their website www.proLindung.com.my.

In addition to Membership and Financial Services, KOPETRO is also involved in the field of Travel and Leisure, Food and Beverage as well as Trade and Retail Services, in addition to the Shariah-compliant pawnbroking service, ArRahnukita, which started their operations since 2021.
