HRD Corp launch NHCCE 2023 - Borneo Region

Kota Kinabalu, 4 July 2023 – Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) organised the official launch of its National Human Capital Conference & Exhibition (NHCCE) 2023 – Borneo Region today. The event was jointly officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan, Deputy Chief Minister I of Sabah and Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources.

Organised in partnership with the Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA), the NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region took place between 4 and 5 July at the Sabah International Convention Centre. NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region is the second stop of the NHCCE 2023 regional series after after the Northern Region Conference in Penang.

Chief Executive Officer of HRD Corp, Datuk Shahul Dawood, delivered a welcome speech at the launch event of NHCCE 2023 - Borneo Region.

The regional series of the NHCCE was organised following the success of the inaugural NHCCE 2022 in Kuala Lumpur and repeated calls from the industry to bring the human capital development-focused conference to their respective locations.

Minister of Human Resources, Tuan V. Sivakumar delivered his speech at the launch event of NHCCE 2023 - Borneo Region.

Themed 'HR 5.0: The Next Evolution in Human Resource Development', NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region held five discussion tracks aimed at equipping leaders, industry players, senior management, HR practitioners, and working professionals with the skills and knowledge to champion the implementation of transformative human capital initiatives in their respective organisations. The discussions and conversations also provided solutions and a path forward for human capital development in Sabah and Sarawak.

The Conference featured 23 renowned local and international speakers and subject matter experts such as Aireen Omar, President (Investment & Ventures) of Capital A, Charles Brewer, the Group Chief Executive of Pos Malaysia Berhad, Roshan Thiran, Founder of Leadernomics as well as Irene Ong Head of Talent and Learning Solutions (Malaysia), LinkedIn among others.

NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region also showcased 40 exhibitors such as Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), Evopoint Sdn. Bhd., and Sabah Skills and Technology Centre. The Conference itself drew more than 1,000 delegates from Sabah and Sarawak.

Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan said, "NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region came at a time when we should be placing greater importance on developing more strategic human capital development solutions for Sabah and Sarawak. The Conference is also an excellent platform for government representatives, academia, industry players, and working professionals in Sabah and Sarawak to come together to discuss their human capital challenges and opportunities meaningfully."

The Deputy Chief Minister also said that strong human capital is essential in ensuring that the Borneo Region and Malaysia remain ahead of the pack amidst increasing competition in Southeast Asia.

Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar said, "I would like to congratulate the HRD Corp team for their commitment and dedication in bringing this highly anticipated conference to Sabah and the Borneo Region for the first time. The Ministry of Human Resources is pleased to support this initiative as it provides our talents and workforce with valuable personal and professional development opportunities within a sustainable and future-oriented framework."

The conclusion of the NHCCE 2023 – Borneo Region also signals the completion of the NHCCE 2023 regional series. Following its successes, HRD Corp will be bringing the flagship NHCCE 2023 back to the Klang Valley at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) at the end of the year.
