10,000 participants unite for a healthier lifestyle at IJM Land Half Marathon 2023

Seremban, 9 August 2023 – After a three-year hiatus, IJM Land, a leading property developer, marked a triumphant return with the much-awaited IJM Land Half Marathon 2023, uniting 10,000 participants at Dataran Centrio, Seremban 2. The event not only promoted a healthier lifestyle but also made a positive impact on the community by supporting charitable causes.

Graced by esteemed officials YB Dato’ Mohd Zafir bin Ibrahim, Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan; YB Tuan Cha Kee Chin, Ahli Parlimen Rasah and YB Puan Nicole Tan Lee Koon, Caretaker Exco, the 9th edition of the IJM Land Half Marathon has grown exponentially since its inception in 2012 – becoming a beloved platform for fostering camaraderie and giving back to society.

“In line with our tagline, ‘Run Together, Bond Stronger’, we are extremely proud of the tremendous success of this year’s Half Marathon! It symbolises the unity and spirit of our community. We are grateful for the unwavering support from our participants as well as our sponsors and partners, despite the three-year hiatus,” said Mr Chai Kian Soon, Senior General Manager of IJM Land Berhad.

IJM Land Half Marathon 2023 offered multiple categories including the 21KM (Half Marathon) and 12KM for both women and men aged 19 years and above, for girls and boys junior aged 13 years and above, as well as a 5KM fun run for individuals 19 years and above.

Beyond being a platform for sporting excellence, the IJM Land Half Marathon also serves as a platform focused on philanthropy. The event made generous contributions to two charities namely the Pertubuhan Hospice Negeri Sembilan (Hospice) and Malaysia Lysosomal Diseases Association (MLDA) with a total amount of RM40,000 contribution, along with its Community Partner, Pertubuhan Artritis Negeri Sembilan (PANS) who received a total sum of RM10,600.

“We are committed to contribute to those in need and making a meaningful impact on the community. The funds raised have touched the lives of those in need, and we aim to carry this forward for years to come,” Mr Chai added.

The event also featured numerous side activities providing entertainment and enjoyment for families and friends. Attendees relished in free-flowing popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy, and a range of refreshing beverages including Nestle Milo, isotonic drinks, Yakult Ace, and Kombucha Tea. Fun and interactive games, health screenings, and sports massages were offered at the Sponsors' and Partners' booths. To add to the excitement, lucky draw prizes worth up to RM25,000, including cutting-edge gadgets such as the iPhone 14 Pro Max and MacBook were given to participants.

Looking ahead to the IJM Land Half Marathon's 10th anniversary next year, the 2023 finisher medals featured a magnetic design symbolised unity and continuity, allowing winners to combine them with the 2024 medals.

In addition to these efforts, the IJM Land Half Marathon introduced the all-new ‘Students RUN TOGETHER’ contest, responding to requests from school teachers to inspire students in Form 1 to 4 to participate in sports and create lasting bonds within the community, especially after the challenges faced during the pandemic where they never got to experience events such as the Half Marathon.
