THOSE aiming for the Diploma in Early Childhood Education stand to benefit from scholarships created in a collaboration between UOW Malaysia KDU College and Starway Professional Educare.

These scholarships, to be granted based on the merits and financial needs of applicants, will allow students to pursue their passion for early childhood education without financial worries.

This diploma, which costs over RM25,000 and takes two to three years to complete, will allow graduates to enter the field of early childhood education as curriculum developers, toy consultants, and teachers in kindergartens and preschools.

The scholarship opportunity is open to both part-time and full-time students, offering 100 slots for part-time students and 40 for full-time students. These scholarships are specifically designed to cover tuition fees only. To apply for this scholarship, interested students should submit their applications through UOW Malaysia KDU College and will undergo a selection process administered by Starway Professional Educare.

UOW Malaysia KDU College and Starway Professional Educare signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to formalise their collaboration on Sept 11, 2023, on the college's campus in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

Established in 1993, Starway Professional Educare has taught more than 3,000 children aged two to six in more than 13 branches at present.

UOW Malaysia KDU College is part of University of Wollongong Australia's global network of campuses. UOW Australia is ranked in the Top 1% of universities globally.

Gabriel Lau Chi Wen, Principal of UOW Malaysia KDU College, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration.

"My goal is to ensure that every student studying Early Childhood Education possesses the necessary abilities to foster the academic and character growth of young children, ultimately creating a profound and positive influence on their well-being and development throughout their crucial early years.

"In the future, I hope to see our partnership evolve into one that includes cooperation in establishing an Early Childhood Education centre in the Glenmarie vicinity that will be manned by students under the supervision of experts from Starway," he said.

Starway Professional Educare's Managing Director Terence Yeang Say Liang emphasised the importance of investing in the next generation of educators.

"We believe that education is the cornerstone of a brighter future, and early childhood education plays a pivotal role in shaping young minds. We are excited to partner with UOW Malaysia KDU College to support students in their educational journeys and contribute to the growth of this critical sector," he said.

The scholarships offered by Starway Professional Educare will be designed to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to pursue their dreams of building careers in early childhood education.
