Empowering Youth Changemakers: The Impact of The Body Shop Malaysia's Changemaker Awards

The Body Shop Malaysia has recognized the immense potential in young activists and, in an inspiring move, launched The Changemaker Award to celebrate and support their remarkable efforts.

The inaugural recipients of The Changemaker Award, Ong Yue Lin and Shameera Nasreen, represent the epitome of young leaders dedicated to making the world a better place. Ong Yue Lin, a young environmental activist, has been at the forefront of the battle with TzuChi Foundation, Malaysia Youth Delegate for climate change. Shameera Nasreen, on the other hand, has been a beacon of hope for countless young women who have faced adversity in their lives. She has been a relentless advocate for gender equality and women's rights for young women to share their stories and break free from societal norms as her dream is to be a pioneer in introducing a bill in the law for marital rape cases. In essence, Shameera has ignited initiatives and have made a profound impact on women's lives, challenging the status quo and promoting gender equality. 

The awards ceremony was presided over by Molly Fong, Executive Director of InNature Berhad, a company that shares The Body Shop's commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. As an advocate for positive change herself, she articulated the essence of the award with unwavering passion. "In a world plagued by social injustice," she stated, "change is not just a choice, but a necessity. It's high time for the youth to step into the spotlight, be heard, be seen, and ignite the change we all need."
