This article is 7 months old

To foster public awareness on health care, Maaedicare Charitable Foundation recently hosted a health screening event “Maaedivibes Health and Wellness Day 2024” at NU Sentral.

This initiative was aimed to provide easy access to essential health assessments, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol screening, blood sugar tests, and body mass index (BMI) calculations to the public. On top of free health screening, they also had Health Talk, CPR Demonstration, Drugs Prevention Exhibition, Physio Consultation and Special Promotion on Heart Screening in conjunction with the Chinese New Year festivities.

The event, in collaboration with The Malaysian Red Crescent, Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan and Praba's Physio and Stroke Rehabilitation Centre have garnered a diverse range of individuals, including families, young adults, and seniors.

“Health screening is a great way to gain awareness and understanding of your own health even if you feel perfectly well, without any symptoms or signs of illness. With early detection and proper medical guidance, diseases and health risks can be treated which result in better outcomes and lowers the risk of serious complications,” said Dr. Mohammad Shazli, Chief Operations Officer, Maaedicare Charitable Foundation.

What illnesses can be detected through a Health Screening?

“Common conditions identified through screening include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, thyroid conditions, pre-cancerous condition, health and lifestyle changes. By providing on-the-spot assessments, attendees have gained valuable insights into their health status and take appropriate actions towards healthier lifestyles,” said Dr. Mohammad Shazli.

The Malaysian Red Crescent showed the public on how to perform CPR and administer them correctly in case of an emergency.

Throughout the day, individuals of all ages enthusiastically participated in the various health screenings, engaging in meaningful discussions with healthcare experts about their results and receiving personalised recommendations for improving their health outcomes.
