Batik Air Reinstates Subang – Penang Route on August 1st, 2024
Batik Air is pleased to announce the highly anticipated reopening of its route between Subang SkyPark (recognised as Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport) and Penang International Airport, commencing on 1st August 2024.
The route will initially operate with three flights weekly, expanding to daily service starting on 15th August 2024. This enhancement will provide travellers with flexible scheduling options, ensuring greater convenience for all passengers.
This reintroduction marks a significant milestone for Batik Air, as the service will now utilise the B737 aircraft, offering enhanced travel experiences with spacious seating and generous legroom—a notable upgrade from the ATR aircraft previously used for all services including to Penang (PEN) via Subang SkyPark (SZB) before its suspension in back in February.
Batik Air’s commitment to enhancing connectivity within Malaysia is clearly demonstrated by this development, with Subang serving as an excellent alternative to KLIA, catering to over 8 million Klang Valley residents with greater convenience and travel options.
Subang Skypark, strategically located in the heart of the Klang Valley, provides unmatched convenience. Just a 30-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur and easily accessible from surrounding areas, it is the ideal gateway for both business and leisure travellers.
Meanwhile, Penang, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, delectable cuisine, and vibrant economy, remains one of Malaysia’s premier travel destinations. The increased flight frequency from SZB to PEN will offer passengers even greater flexibility and ease, facilitating more seamless travel plans.
Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said that the reinstatement of the SZB – PEN route is a strategic move aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and delivering superior service.
“The convenience of SZB, combined with the appeal of Penang, creates an ideal synergy that benefits both business and leisure travellers. We anticipate a strong response and are prepared to increase the flight frequency to daily to meet passenger needs,” he said.
He added that the reopening of this route aligns with Batik Air’s broader strategy to expand its domestic network and enhance its service offerings.
“Looking ahead, Batik Air is excited to introduce more destinations from SZB, with plans to fly to Kota Bharu and soon to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, further expanding our network and providing passengers with even more travel options.”
