Allianz Malaysia supports PWD through the Economic Empowerment Programme in Sabah and Selangor Cheshire Home

Kuala Lumpur, 27 August 2024 – Allianz Malaysia Berhad Group (Allianz Malaysia) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, Allianz4Good, supports the Economic Empowerment Programme (EEP) of Sabah Cheshire Home and Services (Sabah Cheshire Home) and Selangor Cheshire Home and Services (Selangor Cheshire Home).

The EEP offers the persons with disabilities (PWD) trainees vocational training to equip them with the necessary skills to enhance their employability and financial independence upon graduating from the programme.

The contribution from Allianz Malaysia will cover among others, the cost of the training, accommodation, and transportation during the trainees’ practical sessions and job coaching for EEP for both homes. 

Under the EEP of Sabah Cheshire Home, a total of 15 PWD trainees will undergo nine months training, with six months of classroom training followed by three months of industrial training and job coaching, culminating in the Certificate in Skills Training for Pastry. The training includes, among others, health and safety practices, pastries preparation, and sales and marketing. 

Meanwhile, 20 PWD trainees of the EEP of Selangor Cheshire Home will undergo a four-month training, with one additional month of industrial training and job coaching. The training includes, among others, character building, pastry-making, cooking, housekeeping, hospitality, and café operation.

Head of Allianz4Good, Ng Siew Gek said, “Through supporting the EEP of Sabah Cheshire Home and Selangor Cheshire Home, we hope to equip the PWD trainees with required skills to secure employment and achieve financial independence in the future after they graduated from the said programme.”

President of Selangor Cheshire Home, Datin Paduka Khatijah Sulaiman said, “Allianz Malaysia's support towards our programme empowers our young PWD with the skills needed, which offers a pathway to the workforce and financial independence.” 

“We are grateful to Allianz Malaysia and hope this inspires other corporations to support programmes that provides opportunities for the young PWD to develop their skills,” President of Sabah Cheshire Home, Lawrence Hee Qui Shing said.
