IOI Properties unveils 100-acre IOI Rio City masterplan with 1,000,000-sq ft IOI Mall Rio retail catalyst

Puchong, Selangor - Bandar Puteri Puchong is a much sought-after address by IOI Properties Group Berhad (“IOIPG”) in bustling Puchong, with convenient access to the Damansara-Puchong, Shah Alam & South Klang Valley Expressways as well as the Bukit Jalil Highway facilitating commutes to Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Putrajaya and surrounding areas.

Million-square foot mega mall to kick off next phase of IOI Rio City

IOI Mall Rio will comprise close to one million square feet of net lettable area and over 300 retail outlets. The mall will offer a curated tenant mix of F&B, lifestyle, fashion, IT, convenience and entertainment brands, including a cinema, catering for shoppers and visitors in Bandar Puteri Puchong as well as surrounding areas such as Bandar Kinrara and Seri Kembangan.

Fostering sustainable growth with smart mobility and infrastructure investment

To ensure safe, convenient mobility and encourage sustainable living within Bandar Puteri Puchong and IOI Rio City, IOIPG has invested into an infrastructural system of underpasses and tunnels, including dedicated ingress and egress points to basement parking facilities in IOI Rio City, as well as intelligent parking systems to optimise traffic flow in IOIPG-managed parking facilities. These serve to reduce traffic bottlenecks and road congestion aboveground, while promoting walkability in and around the community.

“Addressing traffic concerns in the area, we are exploring the addition of a direct flyover from the Bandar Puteri Puchong Interchange to the adjacent commercial area, Puteri 2, to further streamline traffic flow along Lebuh Puteri and surrounding roads,” said Chung.

Basement car parks at IOI Rio City feature open-air designs to promote natural ventilation, as well as motion sensors & timed lighting in car parks and stairways to reduce electricity usage and operational carbon footprint. Renewable energy is emphasised with solar-powered LED lights for street lighting, as well as rooftop solar panels in 2 Rio Office Park with an installed capacity of 214 kWp. Rainwater is also harvested for irrigation purposes in IOIPG-managed facilities.

Pedestrian-friendly design and public transport aplenty

In line with pedestrian-friendly approaches to urban planning, IOI Rio City incorporates shaded street level walkways and link bridges, enhancing walkability to nearby points of interest such as the Taman Perindustrian Puchong LRT station and Puchong Financial Corporate Centre. Within IOI Rio City, ample greenery provides shade while reducing ambient heat, while dedicated bicycle lanes, bicycle parking nodes and electric vehicle charging stations encourage alternative modes of transport.
