Tanjung Piai by-election - be mindful of race and religion
LETTER | Pusat Komas wishes the best of luck to the candidates of the upcoming Tanjung Piai by-election.
Pusat Komas strictly reminds the contending parties in the Tanjung Piai by-election to refrain from using race and religion as their political tools in galvanising the support of the masses.
We hope the candidates and party leaders will be mindful of the rising divisive elements in our multi-ethnic society and realise that exemplifying qualities of matured politics would be significantly healthy to Malaysia.
Hereby, we express our utmost aspiration towards an inclusive and harmonious society led by leaders who respect all faiths and cultures in moving our nation forward.
Pusat Komas is hopeful that the coming battle will set a good precedent in promoting politics that consciously distances itself from menial yet divisive tactics of race and religion.
We also would like to urge the EC to ensure that race or religious-baiting are strictly prohibited and be made an election offence.
