LETTER | Thumbs up for stimulus package 3

This article is 4 years old

LETTER | We applause the stimulus package 3 specially targeted at SMEs in Malaysia announced by the prime minister recently.

The Sarawak Institute for Public Affairs (SIPA) specifically applause the government initiative to give additional help to SMEs with the allocation of extra RM10 billion.

It will go a long way to prevent layoffs and thus further rise in unemployment as we move forward especially after the movement control order (MCO) is removed on April 14.

SMEs provide the bulk of the jobs in our nation. We must ensure that they do not go bankrupt as much as possible, especially during a difficult time like now.

SIPA is also concerned with the distribution of relief given to the people especially the B40 group. Are they informed of the RM800 one-off payment that they are eligible to receive?

Government money is people’s money and giving out relief should never be publicised for political gains.

Both the federal and state governments must go all out to inform the most vulnerable groups in our society that help is forthcoming.

The promised RM200,000 by the Sarawak government for each state constituency must be distributed in the most efficient manner.

We pray that every policymaker realise that people are going hungry and they need help urgently and without funfair.

Just give and help especially the most vulnerable groups.
