LETTER | Give Anwar the chance to lead the nation

This article is 4 years old

LETTER | It is time to look at the country from a completely new perspective.

Anwar Ibrahim has put his neck out with promises of a reform agenda to give Malaysia a chance to return to political stability, good governance, clean politics, social equity and participatory democracy for all Malaysians regardless of race.

Why don't MPs with moral qualities, hearts and minds in the right place, a passion to serve, concern for the welfare of the people, come forward, even from Muafakat Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, and give Anwar the support that the country yearns for in order to move forward?

More than 63 years of discriminatory policies, abuse of power and race and religious hate, together with highly corrupt politicians and people in office, have seen the wealth of the nation plundered. These corrupt politicians have enriched themselves and left behind a population that mostly remains poor.

The bad management of the country has chased off a large number of Malaysian talent that, if treated fairly and justly, would have contributed well to nation-building.

And despite foreign direct investment not coming into the country, there is also the added danger where instability could drive away existing foreign investors and industries who would opt for countries with political, economic and social stability.

The people have the right to demand better leadership as the government which the people had voted in was hijacked from their very noses.

It is also not wise to hit the polls sooner due to the sudden surge of Covid-19 cases.

The people were physically and emotionally stressed when the Pakatan Harapan government was robbed, and now there is a possible chance to take back the reins of the rightful government with Anwar taking the lead.
