LETTER | It's worrying if 'coup plottings' have become the norm

This article is 3 years old

LETTER | News of Inspector General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador stating that there are police planning and plotting to have him removed is indeed most distressing.

Generally, the people only read about politicians ganging up to stage a coup to wrest power. Now it looks certain that this "coup mindset" has also penetrated our vanguard institution, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

Imagine, an institution that is charged with the responsibility of ensuring national stability and fighting crime is also plagued by such undesirable agendas that are similar to a coup mentality, often ascribed to political parties and politicians.

When you have political-like revolts within PDRM, who is there to assure us that the same is not present in other institutions of government?

The revelation by the top cop is of grave concern for all patriotic citizens who believe in shared responsibility in building this nation.

When vanguard institutions and those responsible for good governance and ethical principles of nationhood are not free from such coup plottings, we must admit we are into a crisis mode.
