LETTER | Abide to SOPs even when fully vaccinated

LETTER | It is pleasing to know that more individuals are getting their respective vaccination. It is evident as social media is abuzz with users sharing pictures of their parents and even themselves. This is a step in the right direction in achieving herd immunity against the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, I would like to urge fully vaccinated individuals to not treat the vaccine as a passport to lower your guard in the fight against the virus. I know of some people who have adopted a mindset of being invincible to the virus and are now somewhat careless with the adherence to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

No, the vaccine does not make you immune to the virus. You need to still abide by all the SOPs. Stay at home as much as possible and do your part to be part of a collective effort to bring down the high number of daily positive cases. It is at the very least your patriotic duty for Malaysia.

Let me remind you that our frontliners are still facing an uphill battle and they are far from achieving victory just yet. All of our frontlines are extremely tired. Some of the medical frontliners don’t even have time to have a proper meal and rest as they are simply too busy with their responsibilities.

In fact, everyone has been impacted in their own respective ways with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic. There is a fine line between lives and livelihoods. It is a tough call to make for some. I do not deny that fact. My message is simple. Do not give up prematurely. Please soldier on and know that there is always hope.

I also humbly call on those who are willing and able to contribute to the plight of others in these troubling times to do so from the kindness and sincerity of your heart. Let us come together as a brotherhood of men.

Our unity serves as a pillar of strength for us to weather this storm together.
