LETTER | Selangor MB, no highway or your way for PJD Link?

This article is 2 years old

LETTER | YB Amirudin Shari, we the residents of Petaling Jaya, along with Taman Medan, and Kinrara, hope that you take due consideration on PJD Link.

Since December 2021, Selangor has witnessed untold damages due to floods.

Please watch this PJD Link video on YouTube, which is an interpretative study alignment. The issue is the route. Building this on top of rivers will cause catastrophic damage to Petaling Jaya. After the devastation due to floods, are you allowing another?

YB, we admire your talent to be our menteri besar at a young age with insight in policy research and social awareness programmes. With your win in PKR internal election in May 2022 as Gombak branch chairperson, it shows leadership. Therefore, we ask that you make clear your position.

The Selangor executive council on Sept 30, 2020, agreed in principle and set conditions that PJD Link has to fulfil. For practical purposes, the Selangor government has agreed to PJD Link approval. How can this happen?

This shocking news was repeated recently after the July 2 peaceful assembly by residents. You have been amicable to the developer; why is that?

Selangor MB Amirudin Shari

YB Amirudin, PJD Link was scrapped in 2015. In April last year's report, the way you presented the facts shows a double standard in what is factual vs what your position is in regard to PJD Link.

You said, “it's unfair to equate PJD Link to Kidex”. Why are you supporting PJD Link? PJ residents asked you this in April, but you remained vague. It's unnerving when you replied, “to give the developer a chance?”

This key concern goes to all the Pakatan Harapan Selangor executive council members, ie Izham Hasyim (infrastructure) and Ng Sze Han (transport).

Why the hypocrisy? The representatives, when they met us, said it's not happening, but behind us, it is happening. Who are you supporting?

The July 2 peaceful assembly's clear output is that "there is no negotiation over PJD Link". This applies to both the federal and state governments. With your silence, what message are you and the state representatives sending out?

When Harapan government leaders are not caring for the rakyat, we will have to take our stand on who to vote for.

Time is important - we demand your position on this matter. We appreciate and thank your leadership in these difficult times.

Thank you.

Sincerely, Michael Kum, secretary of Resident Association Section 20 Petaling Jaya and representative for SCRAP Highway Team.
