LETTER | Music is a universal language

LETTER | AR Rahman, an Indian composer popular for his work in Indian cinema, predominantly in Tamil and Hindi films, is popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Indian music.

A massive audience of 60,000 were in attendance at his concert at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium recently. It was a resounding success.

Celebrated Malaysian songstress Siti Nurhaliza made a special guest appearance, and quipped that it was one of her biggest nights seeing her dream becoming a reality of sharing the stage with Rahman himself.

Siti Nurhaliza sang 'Munbe Vaa' and carried out the lyrics in harmony with singer Haricharan in a duet.

It certainly was one of the highlights of the night as the event showcased how a great musical spectacle can bring all walks of life together.

On a different note, if we can go back in time to 1999, Glen Hoddle, the England football manager at that time, was dismissed from the England job for a newspaper interview in which he was widely interpreted as saying that people with disabilities and others, are affected by karma from the past lives.

As our Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is a firm believer in karma, let us hope that any untoward incidents that may have taken place, would be resolved the karma way, and not take away the glitter from the gala event.

In a nutshell, as has been told countless times in school, one should not utter a single word if one has nothing good to say.
