LETTER | What a load of baloney among our MPs

This article is a year old

LETTER | If by now some of us still do not know why Umno/BN, DAP, PKR, and other parties came together to form the federal coalition government, we must be political novices not worth serious consideration.

Frankly, I am annoyed by the daily shenanigans being perpetuated, particularly by Umno and other parties within the coalition government.

Umno, you are already on life-support. For goodness’ sake, please do not punch above your weight. It is your choice to choose either Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Pakatan Harapan, but either way, you can only play second fiddle.

With only 30 MPs and deeply divided, I believe even PAS will not let you lead the federal government.

If Umno is serious about rejuvenating itself, the party should just focus on work and services to the people.  Use the allocations wisely now that the party is part of the government and stop the stupid rhetoric day in and day out.

DAP apologised to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for the sake of the coalition overnment.  Whether the apology was justified or not, it does not matter. In critical situations, sometimes the end justifies the means.

DAP accepting less important and fewer cabinet posts in the government is also out of pragmatism. We must all learn to sacrifice a little to achieve a more harmonious, progressive, and prosperous Malaysia.

So, Umno, may I know what is your point in demanding DAP to apologise. Following that, the MCA also wanted the same apology from DAP. Seriously, may I know what the rationale was?

Do you think this will make DAP “smaller” and Umno and MCA “bigger”? For goodness’ sake, your demand does not resonate with the people. If there is any apology required, I think all political parties in the country must apologise for failing the country and its people miserably.

Then we have another no-brainer - the “bak kut teh” controversy which was started by a PKR MP.

For me, there is no necessity to promote or suppress it. The people will decide what to do, including not to use pork in the dish to make it halal.  Who really cares whether this dish is a national heritage dish.

In fact, this brings to mind the vibrancy of Chinese primary schools in Malaysia today. Did anyone promote them? All I see are threats and suppression to shut them down and yet the schools have continued to flourish.

I think parties within the coalition government must grossly reduce the semantics that cause dissension among the people. This is the specialty of PN, who now wants to look at the uniform of nurses in our hospitals. What a load of baloney among our MPs!
