LETTER | The moon and the politician

LETTER | A politician, ever verbose on race, religion, and power; and the moon, have a lot in common, but there are subtle differences.

They are both out of this world, the moon hundreds of thousands of kilometers away and the politician with his surreal and incredulous claims and allegations.

They both orbit around our world and life. The moon’s orbit influences tidal waves. The politician’s orbit influences green waves.

Gravity is at work for both. Gravity keeps the moon and earth together. A lack of gravitas keeps many people away from the politician.

The moon was once part of the earth and is made up of earth’s debris. The politician was once part of the ruling coalition of a state government and was then down to earth.

The moon is attractive to many in that it gives light where there is darkness. The politician is attractive to some as he darkens the light of respect and tolerance of race and religion.

The moon is unhabitable and is not conducive for development. The politician’s state is however habitable but unfortunately similarly not conducive for development.

The moon is suspected of having water, likely not clean and potable. The politician’s state is also suspected of having water, likely not clean and potable too.

There is a vacuum space between the earth and the moon and there is only silence. There is a vacuum space between the ears of the politician, but it makes a lot of noise.

Many people turn to the moon to celebrate festivals and events. Many people return to the politician’s state to celebrate festivals and events because they have migrated to other places to work, live, and play.

The moon is ever present in space according to the Laws of the Universe. The politician is never present in the space allocated for him in Parliament to make laws of the land.

Everyone likes the moon. Not everyone likes the politician.

They are both very much in the news of late.

There is no getting away from them even in the remotest corner of our country.

The moon has become less mysterious over the past century. The politician has become more mysterious over these past few years.

They have been probed many times, the politician by various law enforcement agencies and the moon by various space exploration agencies.

The moon is probed to see if humans can live on it, the politician is probed if some humans can live with him.

For the moon and the politician, whether humans can live on the moon, or whether humans can live with the politician are a moonshot.
