LETTER | Bravo Sivasangari!

This article is a year old

LETTER | National squash player S Sivasangari has proven to all that she has what it takes to be a future world squash champion.

In a remarkable turn of events, she put up a virtuoso display to win the Hong Kong Squash Club Open.

Before this achievement, Sivasangari didn't let the country down, as besides winning the singles gold, she helped Malaysia to the gold in the women's team event at the recently concluded Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

We have to convey our admiration for her, as after having encountered multiple injuries due to a serious accident, she underwent intensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy treatment for a long period to get herself back into competitive fitness.

The trauma of it all would have overwhelmed a lesser person, but not Sivasangari.

With the moral support of her legion of friends, relatives and well wishes, plus her being strong mentally, she managed to overcome the odds to be where she is now; like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

It is nice to know that the accident has not affected her performance.

We sincerely do hope that the encouraging progress of Sivasangari is a mark of more good things to come for her in the years to follow.
