LETTER | Blood on our hands after Rafah massacre
LETTER | The Rafah massacre shows how deeply evil the apartheid state of Israel is, with possibly only its benefactor in the United States of America being a larger force for destruction. The grisly pictures showing dismembered bodies of children are an indictment of the level of depravity Israeli forces have stooped to.
Rafah, being at the Southernmost border of Gaza, was one of the last remaining safe spaces for Palestinians, yet the cruel bombing of it has shown Israel is not interested in peace, not that it ever was, rather continues its genocide with complete impunity, bolstered by the backing of the soulless United States.
Engineered to be done during the Super Bowl, the Rafah massacre was done at a time to minimise the attention of ordinary Americans and it seems only government officials were paying attention. This was clearly seen in an X post from President Joe Biden who posted a picture of himself with red laser eyes stating “Just like we drew it up”.
Whatever intention was meant to be conveyed, the fact that it was done on the same night as the massacre speaks volumes. Truly, the supposed “leader of the free world” seems to live up to the moniker “Genocide Joe”.
We have always known the USA’s meddling in the affairs of other nations to benefit itself often comes with a generous dose of carpet bombing and destruction. Yet, this time, with such clear images of suffering, the time must be nigh that we reconsider our relationship with these forces of evil.
Of course, Malaysia has no diplomatic relations with Israel. However, we must go further in cutting economic ties with it. This includes divesting from any electronic and non-electronic imports whilst also stopping any exports to the state.
Additionally, Malaysia must reconsider its ties with the United States of America. The global sentiment towards the hypercapitalist behemoth has never been more negative, and rightfully so. We are waking up to a world in which the United States cannot bully around as it wishes anymore.
Within Malaysia itself, we have seen the US Embassy unfairly dismiss former security guard Subramaniam Letchimanan and ordered to pay RM66,000 after 15 years of legal battles spearheaded by Parti Sosialis Malaysia.
We must divest from the United States by diminishing their investments in our country. We must be brave enough to find other allies elsewhere in the globe or even focus on developing indigenously.
We must mobilise a regional boycott of the United States and drive their military assets away from our region. We must finally realise that only by concrete, material actions such as these will the United States, its allies and especially Israel conform to basic human rights.
We must teach the conscienceless conscience. Otherwise, we too have blood on our hands.
