LETTER | Reject Umno's 'bullying' ways

This article is 3 months old

LETTER | We, Malaysians of all races and religions, totally reject Umno’s decision to support its youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh in his call to boycott KK Mart over the socks incident.

We feel that Umno has proposed excessive punishment bordering on bullying, extremism and political opportunism.

We uphold the investigation by the authorities – not Umno extremists - and await the outcome and punishment.

We accept the apologies KK Mart has made over the issue whether by their negligence or dereliction in displaying socks with the word Allah.

We honour the names of all the gods in our religions, including the sacred name of Allah.

We honour the values of all our religions in promoting forgiveness, compassion, tolerance and understanding.

We are extremely disappointed and disgusted with Umno who once saved our nation from a coalition of extremist politics.

We had high hopes for Umno to mend its ways of the past but now we doubt that it could be a good partner in our unity government, as envisioned by the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
