LETTER | PNB, Sime Darby urged to halt all cooperation with Caterpillar
LETTER | Among the most terrible features of the Israeli regime’s criminal occupation of Palestine is the destruction of tens of thousands of Palestinian homes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip by using giant bulldozers.
This barbaric activity often results in death because the bulldozers sometimes demolish the homes when the occupants are still inside.
These giant bulldozers are used to destroy roads, water supply systems and electricity supply systems in Palestinian cities in the West Bank.
The bulldozers are also used in the West Bank to build hundreds of illegal Israeli settlements on land illegally seized from the Palestinians.
Right now, giant bulldozers are being used to commit genocide in Gaza. Recently, some displaced Palestinian refugees living around a hospital in Gaza were brutally killed when the bulldozers ran over their tents and buried them alive.
The bulldozer most often used by the oppressive Israeli regime is supplied by the United States-based Caterpillar company. Sime Darby distributes Caterpillar machinery in the Asia-Pacific region.
Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is Sime Darby’s largest shareholder.
We call on PNB to put pressure on Sime Darby to end their business relationship with the Caterpillar company as long as Caterpillar does not stop helping Israel commit atrocities against the Palestinian people.
This is the minimum contribution that Malaysia can make to stop the genocide that Israel is committing against the Palestinian people.
