LETTER | What will sate Israel’s bloodlust?

LETTER | In one week, Israel has indiscriminately targeted individuals in Lebanon through pagers adulterated with explosives and rained bombs on their country such that night turned into midday.

Not satisfied with its horrific genocide of the people of Gaza, Israel has turned against neighbouring countries.

The White House has now committed additional troops to the Middle East amid escalation between Israel and Lebanon, using Hezbollah as an excuse.

The Democratic National Committee has changed its platform now calling for Lebanon to be free from Hezbollah, indicating perhaps further support for Israel.

A regional war between Israel and its allies against countries such as Lebanon and Yemen seem inevitable. All to further the fascistic entity gleefully murdering innocents in Palestine.

We have to ask, when is it enough? How much more blood would be needed to sate the bloodlust of the Zionists?

Israel is the greatest proxy of the imperialist West, designed to exert its influence over the region.

Whatever anti-Western forces that resist their imperialism are controlled by the presence of Israel. This can be seen in the control of Iran, for example.

Influence is also key in controlling the resources of the region, especially oil, over which the US and its allies have spent decades waging wars for.

Formed from the forced evacuation of the Palestinian people, Israel has turned ever more fascistic. Countless crimes of aggression and murder of innocents stain its history.

Gaza has remained an open-air prison for so long, now lies in rubbles. The propaganda that this is a war against Hamas is clearly fictitious when the same aggression is seen in the West Bank where Hamas holds no influence.

It is time to take more serious measures against Israeli terror. As a country that proudly boasts passports disallowing entry into Israel, Malaysia needs to take a stronger stance.

Unfortunately, we are still not divesting from deals such as the inclusion of BlackRock through Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) in the takeover of Malaysia Airports Holding (MAHB). BlackRock has undeniable deep links with Israel. This must immediately cease.

We must also go further in recognising the complicity of the US and its allies in Israel’s depravity. The US supplies troops, funds and weaponry.

Similarly, the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy assist the Israeli government through arms. We must censure every country that enables Israel’s occupation and genocide of Palestine. We must be brave enough to even send back certain ambassadors if need be. It is the only moral stance.

Finally, the time is fast approaching where we must contend with the question if the existence of Israel itself, as it is today, stops any move for peace in the Middle East.

One thing is for sure. Displaced Palestinians must be allowed to return to their houses, with all of their losses returned to them. Sons and daughters that have never seen the sea or tasted peace must know rest.

Palestine must be free, and we must take our place in history for its liberation.
