S'gor police rubbish video of Bangladeshis in political party caps
Selangor police have rubbished a video which went viral over social media depicting a group of Bangladeshis at the KL International Airport reportedly donning blue caps of a political party and allegedly in the country to vote in the 14th general election (GE14).
Selangor police headquarters media relations officer ACP Nordin Manan said investigations had revealed that in reality, the caps displayed the logo of the agency involved in bringing in the foreigners into the country.
"Our investigations have shown that they were not wearing caps of any political party and the police have not received reports of the matter going viral until now," he told a press conference related to the GE14 at the media headquarters of the Selangor police in Shah Alam today.
Nordin advised the people not to share information, especially if they could not verify them.
He also said there were 1,074 political ceramah sessions held during the campaign period in Selangor, thus far.
He said 22 investigations were currently underway involving various campaign offences in the run-up to the GE14.
"The police want all parties to campaign in an orderly manner and not violate the Election Offences Act 1954.
"Overall, Selangor has been safe, secure and without incident during the five days of campaigning, so far,” Nordin added.
