Police picked up (above) Umno Youth exco Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris at his home in Setapak this afternoon over his alleged assault on Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.

Azri, who maintains that he did not assault the minister, said he will be taken to the Kajang district police headquarters.

"Thank you to the Kajang district police headquarters for picking me up at my home.

“There was already a large special team from Bukit Aman gathering outside my house and waiting to ambush me since morning," he said in a press statement.

Yesterday, a confrontation took place between BN supporters and Syed Saddiq's delegation during nomination day for the Semenyih by-election.

During the incident, Wan Muhammad came in contact with Syed Saddiq.

Syed Saddiq claimed Wan Muhammad held him in a headlock, but the latter claimed it was a hug.

The minister subsequently lodged a police report which cops are now acting upon.

Wan Muhammad, who is also known as the blogger “Papagomo,” insisted that it was a "false" police report.
