Nik Abduh open to PAS-Bersatu-Umno roadblock for DAP
Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz is open to the idea of PAS, Umno and Bersatu teaming up as long as the ultimate aim of "stopping DAP" is achieved.
"Whatever PAS' move, it is to stop (halang) DAP. This is an issue of the sovereignty of Islam.
"If PAS, Umno and Bersatu were to work together, what is the issue?" asked the PAS central committee member in a Facebook posting late last night.
Yesterday, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party has pledged to support Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should there be a plot within Pakatan Harapan to oust the latter.
This is after Mahathir said he had a written agreement from PAS that it would not support Umno in the March 2 Semenyih by-election.
The undertaking was to have been reached during a meeting last Friday between the premier, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, Takiyuddin, and Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
Takiyuddin, however, counterclaimed that the written agreement was actually a draft pledge to back Mahathir with the support of its 18 MPs if Harapan allies initiated a no-confidence vote against the premier.
It was alleged Mahathir had alluded to the PAS leaders that two Harapan component parties were plotting against him.
Takiyuddin also previously said that while PAS would continue to work with Umno, its commitment in the by-election would not be the same as witnessed in the Cameron Highlands polls.
Both PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng have dismissed the claim of a plot against Mahathir and accused PAS of attempting to distract attention from the claim that the Islamist party received RM90 million from Umno.
