No restriction on non-vaccinated kids entering schools

This article is 6 years old

The Education Ministry will not impose any restriction on students who have yet to be vaccinated from entering schools.

Though stressing that vaccination is important, minister Maszlee Malik noted that immunisation and children's right to education are separate issues.

This stance, he said, was in line with the ministry’s belief that the children of all citizens must be given access to education without discrimination.

“The government prioritises education for all children, and will not close the door to education on anyone.

“Vaccination and the right to education are two different issues. Vaccination is an issue for the Health Ministry,” he said in a Facebook posting earlier today.

Maszlee was clarifying a report in a Malay daily, which he claimed had misquoted him on the matter yesterday.
