Guan Eng is dangerous, PM should sack him: PAS
PAS has urged Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to sack DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng from the cabinet following the latter's claims that Umno and PAS were now "declaring war" against non-Muslims.
The party said Mahathir should do so to prevent the situation from getting worse.
"PAS is of the view that what Lim said poses a danger to the country's harmony, unity and all systems in this country.
"We urge all Malaysians who love peace and order to lodge police reports against Lim for incitement," said PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan in a statement today.
He was referring to Lim's statement yesterday afternoon which urged MCA to leave BN in view of Umno and PAS joining forces. The statement was in Chinese only.
Lim had argued that Umno and PAS were "declaring war" on non-Malays and non-Muslims through "extremist" racial rhetoric, such as condemning the federal government for appointing non-Muslims as cabinet ministers.
Late last night, Lim issued a correction which replaced the words "declaring war on non-Malays and non-Muslims" with "targeting non-Malays and non-Muslims".
Regardless, Takiyuddin said PAS was of the view that Lim's remarks were seditious, chauvinistic and undemocratic.
"His statement also gives the impression that DAP is an 'anti-Malay-Muslim' party. In fact, he is the one 'declaring war' by pressing the panic button," he said.
Earlier today, Lim brushed off criticisms and said he stood by the corrected version of his statement.
