DAP lodges three police reports against Mat Hasan
Simultaneous police reports have been lodged in Ipoh, Teluk Intan and Kampar this morning against controversial remarks made by Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan last week.
Perak DAP publicity secretary Chong Zhemin, who led the effort, said that Mohamad should be investigated for saying that those who should be landlords are now living in a small house, while those who were previously ‘penumpang’ (squatters) now live in the big house.
In the speech made during the Semenyih by-election campaign on March 1, Mohamad also accused these 'squatters' of “clinging to the legs of our nation's fighters”.
It is believed that the former Negri Sembilan menteri besar, also known as Tok Mat, was referring to the number of non-Malays in the Dewan Rakyat.
Chong, who is also Keranji assemblyperson, said that words such as "passengers" or "visitors" should not be used to refer to any Malaysian.
"We are all born and raised and one day will die in Malaysia and it is our homeland.”
He added that the reports were lodged on behalf of Pakatan Harapan and called on the police to investigate the matter under Section 504 of the Penal Code, as an “intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace".
