Cleaning up of Klang river to be completed today
Work to clean up the chemical waste dumped into Sungai Klang is expected to be completed by today, said Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
“Initially we expected the whole cleaning process to take two days, but everything went smoothly since yesterday and I think we can finish the job today,” he said, adding that he hoped samples collected would help in investigations to nab the culprit.
He said this after launching the Selangor Mosque and Surau Management Convention as well as handing over appointment letters to 1,900 mosque and surau committee members at the Silver Jubilee Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Building in Shah Alam today.
Also present was Selangor mufti Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid.
In his speech, Amirudin stressed that all committee members should manage the mosques and surau in the state with commitment and focus in order to raise the institutions as a medium to develop the ummah.
