PBS to contest in Sandakan by-election
SANDAKAN POLLS | Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) today confirmed its participation in next month's Sandakan by-election.
President Maximus Johnity Ongkili (above) said the decision was made by the party’s political bureau at a recent meeting.
"We are excited to fly our flag in the coming by-election,” he said, adding that PBS is willing to corporate with like-minded opposition parties, whether national or local.
The last time that PBS representatives contested under the party banner was in the 1999 general election.
It rejoined BN coalition in 2002, before quitting again after the 14th general election last year.
Nomination for the Sandakan by-election takes place on April 27, early voting on May 7, and polling on May 11.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Stephen Wong from DAP, who was also the state health and wellbeing minister.
