Father and son nabbed over shooting of caged monkey

Police arrested a father and son in Perak last night over the shooting of a caged monkey that was captured in a video recording.

Bukit Aman corporate communications chief Asmawati Ahmad said the men were nabbed by officers from Manjung police headquarters at their house in Taman Kenangan, Sitiawan.

"They were arrested at 9pm last night.

"Also found and seized was a pistol that is believed to have been used in the incident," she said in a text message to media inquiries over the case this morning.

The 20-second video, which has been making the rounds on social media, showed a man pointing a pistol towards a monkey kept inside a cage.

The man was then heard telling the monkey to say 'baby sayang' if it did not want to be shot.

He then counted to three before shooting the monkey in the head.
