Muhyiddin: Don't let Mazlan's appointment undermine leadership ties
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has urged party members not to let the appointment of Tebrau division chief Mazlan Bujang as Johor Bersatu chairperson affect ties between party leaders in the state.
Muhyiddin said the important thing was to ensure that cooperation and unity remain the guiding principle of the state party leadership.
"The (appointment) letter has been officially issued, so he (Mazlan) will carry out his duties,” he told reporters after attending a breaking-of-fast event involving leaders and the people at the Johor menteri besar’s residence, Saujana, in Johor Bahru tonight.
Asked if Mazlan’s appointment could disrupt the smooth administration of the state since Johor Menteri Besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal does not hold any party post, Muhyiddin said he hoped it would not.
"I hope it does not turn out that way because, first, we want to ensure that the state administration under the MB gets solid support from all levels of the Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu leadership.
"Second, support from the people; that is important so that the state administration process runs smoothly, and I am confident that the MB can shoulder the responsibility,” said Muhyiddin, who is also the home minister.
