Haziq: Why would I want to throw away my career?
Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz has refuted claims that he is linked to a particular faction in PKR that is seeking to undermine Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He also denied being paid a substantial amount to make public his allegations of having sexual relations with Azmin.
“Why would I want to throw away my career for short-term gains?” he reportedly told the Sun.
“I had a good job and a great boss,” added the 27-year-old Santubong PKR Youth leader, who has since been terminated as private secretary to Primary Industries Deputy Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.
Haziq became a household name after confessing to being the person in a series of leaked sex videos.
He claimed that his sexual encounter with Azmin was recorded without his knowledge in the minister's hotel room in Sandakan, Sabah last month.
Azmin, however, described the videos as an attempt to ruin his political career and is convinced that it was an inside job.
Haziq has been sacked from his job as senior private secretary to Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, for tarnishing the ministry's image.
PKR had also issued a show cause letter against him on similar grounds.
Police had arrested Haziq last Friday and held him overnight to investigate him on multiple criminal offences - including carnal intercourse against the order of nature.
The authorities say they are also trying to authenticate the video, while also tracking down the culprits who spread it.
Previously, experts engaged by Australian media outfit SBS News said the sex videos showed no signs of being doctored, but they could not confirm if Azmin was the man in the video.
