Dungun MP injured in struggle after being robbed of RM26k
Dungun MP Wan Hasan Mohd Ramli became a robbery victim after two men on a motorcycle fled with RM26,000.
He also suffered injuries when trying to stop the robbers from fleeing with the money.
Dungun police chief Baharudin Abdullah confirmed the incident, according to Berita Harian.
According to Baharudin, in the 2.30pm incident, the PAS lawmaker had gone to a bank along Jalan Baru Pak Sabah to withdraw the cash intended as payment for cows booked for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha.
After withdrawing the money, Wan Hassan got into his car to head back to his office.
"However, a man in his 20s suddenly entered the car from the passenger side and took the bag of money.
"The victim tried to prevent the bag from being snatched and a struggle ensued. However, the robber managed to flee on a motorcycle ridden by an accomplice.
"Following the incident, the victim lodged a police report at the Dungun district police headquarters before seeking treatment at the Dungun hospital," he said.
The 62-year-old MP suffered injuries to his right leg and arm.
Baharudin said police has retrieved CCTV footages near the area and is investigating the case under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
