In M'sia Day messages, Dr M and Anwar call for unity in face of division
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim have called for unity in the face of division in separate Malaysia day messages.
Mahathir, in a special appearance in a Malaysia Day music video by Hazama Azmi, recited a poem about unity.
"Even though we have differences, let us break the walls that divide us.
"Let us united regardless of skin colour or beliefs because we are Anak Bangsa Malaysia," he said.
The music video was posted on Mahathir's official Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Anwar in a Facebook post said Malaysia Day should be a day where Malaysians appreciate the strength of our diversity.
"At a time where we are under siege by racism and suspicion, let us celebrate this day by appreciating the meaning of our diversity, inclusivity and harmony which we have enjoyed all this while.
"A better future is one that does not exclude or sideline anyone. Happy Malaysia Day," he said.
