KL RTD collects RM1.03m in public auction of impounded vehicles
The Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (RTD) today collected RM1.03 million in revenue after auctioning off 100 impounded vehicles of various types.
Its director Ismail Zawawi said this did not include auction book proceeds comprising RM 10,150.
The 100 vehicles impounded for various offences from early this year to August, comprised 34 motorcycles and 66 cars, he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Ismail added that 99 percent of the cars had been impounded for the offence of cloning.
Among the vehicles auctioned included makes such as Honda Jazz and Honda Wave.
The highest bid received was for a Honda Stream car at RM 30,100, while the lowest bid was for a motorcycle at RM 150. Only one of the sold cars was categorised as scrap.
The department's previous auction of 101 vehicles in April netted a total of RM 1,053,250.
